Nelson

A chemist of comedy, Nelson is a multi-disciplinary performer, combining Acrobatics, Clowning and Physical Comedy in an almost alchemic approach to modern circus.

Growing up in the small, sleepy sea-side town of Port Macquarie, Nelson used his ample free time to experiment with different styles of movement including free-running and parkour, drawing on his experiences as both a competitive gymnast and diver.

Following the lead of his best friend and now Hoop Diving partner, he studied at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) under some of the world’s most highly regarded disciplinary coaches, specialising in Hoop Diving and Clowning. 

Just two days after graduating in 2017, Nelson flew to Montreal to join the Cirque du Soleil show LUZIA where he toured as a Hoop Diver and a Clown in 14 different cities across five countries.

Since the pandemic, Nelson continues to add to his already prolific and elite body of work as a full-time industry professional, working within the Australian circus scene to develop projects with Brisbane-based CIRCA such as Shaun the Sheep’s Circus Show, and Casus Circus with their creation Aunties Fia Fia Night.
