School holiday program

Looking for a fun and energetic activity this school holidays? NICA Rec’s dynamic circus holiday program has you covered with workshops for kids (5 – 12 years) and teens (12 – 17 years)!

We are running workshops right up until school resumes, including on 28 and 29 January.

Kids Program

(5 – 12 years)

For 5-12 year olds, we offer daily fun-filled mornings with 3 Hour Workshops. An action-packed Day at the Circus is available daily for 7-12 year olds. Activities change from day to day, so there will be something new to try each day. For 7-12 year olds who want to learn how to climb, hang and roll in the air we are running AERIALkids workshops across certain afternoons from 1-3pm. Kids can join for a single workshop, or book in multiple workshops across the two weeks! Our holiday programs welcome everyone keen to learn circus and no prior experience is necessary.

A Day at the Circus

(5 – 12 years)

Come along for a day at the circus and experience several circus activities up in the air, tumbling, balancing and learning new tricks! Bring along a water bottle and a packed lunch (no nut products please).  

This program runs from 9:30am – 3:30pm

AERIALkids Workshop

(7 – 12 years)

Get up in the air with our 2-hour workshop! Try a variety of aerial apparatus including tissu, static trapeze, and aerial hoop. We’ll focus on aerial awareness, coordination, strength building and mastering basic skills.

This program runs from 1:00 – 3:00pm.

3-Hour Workshop

(7 – 12 years)

Join us for a 3-hour workshop and try a range of different circus activities from juggling, tumbling, aerials and more! You’ll need to bring along a water bottle and snacks (no nut products please).

Teen Program

(12 – 17 years)

This holiday break NICA is running a variety of workshops for teens aged 12-17 years held in the afternoons from 1-3pm. We are running specialist programs covering exciting circus aerial specialties and acrobatic pole. Plus, teens can join our CIRCUSteens workshop and learn all about the world of circus. Our teen program welcomes all eager to begin their circus learning journey and no prior experience is necessary.

AERIALteens

(12 – 17 years)

Get up in the air with our 2-hour AERIALteens workshop.  Start with a fun warm-up game and stretch before trying a variety of aerial apparatus including tissu, static trapeze, and aerial hoop. We’ll specifically focus on aerial awareness, coordination, strength building and learning foundation skills.

This program runs from 1:00 – 3:00pm

Acrobatic Pole

(12 – 17 years)

Climb to new heights in this popular worldwide discipline. This workshop will have you climbing, sliding and holding poses using apparatus originally developed by Chinese acrobats. Flat soled shoes, such as Volleys, and jeans over leggings is compulsory to wear during the workshop.

This program runs from 1:00 – 3:00pm.

CIRCUSteens

(12 - 17 years)

Experience a variety of circus skills in our 2-hour CIRCUSteens workshop. Designed to both challenge and inspire participants as they learn all about manipulation, ground acrobatics plus aerial circus skills. Activities may include juggling, hula hoops, tumbling, trampoline, acrobalance, tissu and static trapeze.

This program runs from 1:00 – 3:00pm.

Daily Workshops

3 Hour Workshop bring a snack and a water bottle (no glass). Day at the Circus enrolments bring a packed lunch too.

To attend the NICA Rec Holiday Program, children must have turned 5 years old at the time of enrolment or have started attending school. 

Please wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in! We suggest tracksuit pants, short or leggings with a close-fitting T-Shirt or singlet and a jumper or jacket for between activities. Long hair must be tied back, and we ask for all jewellery to be removed. Bring a water bottle – no glass please! 

Participants should bring a small bag with a water bottle (no glass please) and some snacks or a packed lunch. 

NO NUT/NUT PRODUCTS please to protect children with severe allergies! Please ensure children wash their hands and faced before the workshop begins to lower the risk of transferal. 

Of course! We welcome all levels to attend our Holiday Program, you’ll be broken up into groups of similar ages and level where possible. 

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds of discounts for missed sessions due to change of mind or availability. 

Changes to enrolment, such as swapping workshops, will only be possible if there is a vacancy. The difference in prices, if any, will need to be paid by the student or credited by NICA back in your customer account. The credit does not expire and can be used towards any future enrolments at NICA.

Participants needing to withdraw from the Holiday Program for any reason prior to the day of the workshop will be issued a credit by NICA back in your customer account. The credit does not expire and can be used towards any future enrolments at NICA.

If you are withdrawing due to injury or illness a copy of the medical certificate is required to be refunded for the full amount.

If you are withdrawing due to extenuating personal circumstances, we will consider the refund request and approve at NICA Rec’s discretion.
